Privacy policy.
Last updated September 2026. Covers the writing assessment, the training programme, the openings board and the accounts that go with them, run by Fletcher Media for its outlets.
Your name, email address, and a LinkedIn or personal site link. We record the topics you tell us you can write about, and the headlines and post you write during the test. We also record how you wrote them: how long each part took, word counts, how many times you swapped the event, and how much of your text was typed rather than pasted in.
You can be sent a link to choose a password, so you can log back in without waiting for an email each time. We store your email address and a one-way scrambled version of the password — not the password itself, which means nobody here can read it or tell you what it was. We also keep the date you last logged in, and a short-lived count of failed sign-in attempts, which exists only to stop someone guessing at your account. Setting a password is optional; the emailed link always works.
We record which lessons you've opened, your quiz attempts and scores, and any certificate you earn. This is tied to your email address so it follows you across every outlet you apply to, and it's what puts a course badge beside your name for reviewers. Your placement comes from your own test scores, and nothing else.
To evaluate your writing for a possible role, route your application to the right outlet's hiring team, run the training programme, decide which open roles to show you, and give reviewers useful signal on whether a submission looks AI-generated or copied so they can weigh it fairly. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't sell it or share it for advertising.
The headlines and post you write here are used only to evaluate you as a candidate. We do not publish, distribute, syndicate, or otherwise use your submission anywhere, for any purpose, whether or not you're hired.
We use Anthropic's Claude to score your headlines and post against a written rubric, and to estimate the likelihood a submission was AI-generated or pasted rather than written live. Your submission is sent to Anthropic to generate those scores. A human reviewer makes every hiring decision; the scores are one input they see, never a verdict on their own. A reviewer can ask for your work to be scored again, which sends it to Anthropic a second time.
We use Resend to send the emails this site generates — your login link, your password link, and nothing else. Your name and email address are passed to them for that purpose. We don't run marketing mailings from here.
Reviewers log in with their own named accounts. A publication's editors see only the applicants who applied to that publication. Owners of the site can see all of them. Which roles are open to you, and when, follows from your own application and training — it isn't shared with other applicants.
Your information is kept in a secured database, accessible only to Fletcher Media reviewers who log in with their own account. We keep applications as long as it's reasonably useful to evaluate you now or consider you for a future opening, since we may not get back to you right away. You can ask us to delete your data at any time; see below.
This site sets a small cookie so you can leave and come back to an in-progress test without losing your place, and a second one that keeps you logged in afterwards so you can check your training and the openings board. Reviewers get one more when they log in to the admin. None of them are used for advertising or tracking, and we don't run any third-party analytics on these pages.
If you filled in the form for publishers, we keep what you sent — your name, email, publication, site and message — so we can reply to you. It isn't used for anything else.
To see what we have on file, correct it, or ask us to delete it, reply to the email that invited you to this assessment. If you reached this page directly and never received one, tell whoever pointed you here and we'll route your request. Asking us to delete your data removes your application, your training progress and any certificate with it.
We may update this policy as the site changes. This page always reflects current practice.
